Heb 6:4-8

Heb 6:4-6
"It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are cricifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public discrace."

From the little extra I've read this set of verses seems to be quite controversial and no one can agree on what it means... So I don't think I'll get past what lifetime-theologians haven't come to conclusions about.

Is it impossible... it can't possibly happen? In that, when someone goes through that experience with God they can fall away and then it's impossible to come back? Or were they truly a follower of Christ having accepted his salvation if they got to that point that they didn't want to come back to him?
I think the story of the prodigal son shows that people can come back... so how do they differ?

vs 7-8
"Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned."

So we're like the land. And what our lives produce will determine our fate.
If we're truly a child of God our lives will produce good fruit (or veggies? :P). But if we ignore Christ's teaching and aren't living a life pleasing to him, we show what's really in our hearts. We produce bad things. Worthless to the "Farmer", which I'm sure isn't such a great place to be.

I pray that my life will bear goodness. That God will be able to use me to bring life and joy, etc. That I'll be "good soil" for him to sow things and that they'll grow and show Him.

Really hope my scatter-brain wrote everything in a way that makes sense...
