oops.
I'm feeling really lonely today after such a nice weekend and I know I need to get back into God's Word. It's been too long.
We FINALLY get to see our Little tomorrow!! I am SO very excited and nervous, but mostly excited. I'm sure it will make it seem even more real! I'm getting hints of how real it is with my belly starting to grow (also, finally) and feel it stretching and such. It's SO weird when I think about it... So cool too. Such a miracle, really! After so many weeks or days since the last appointment and hearing the heartbeat, it feels so distant again. So this will be quite lovely :) I'm really hoping (s)he cooperates for the ultrasound so we can know if it's a he or she!!! We'll have to see tomorrow I guess! If not, I'm not really all that worried. We probably won't be dead-set on a name until we meet him/her anyway. :P I can't believe I'm already halfway through pregnancy tomorrow too! It has gone by so quickly thus far.
And I think that's a nice little update and we'll move right into Bible now :)
Heb. 9:1-10
"Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary. A tabernacle was set up. In its first room were the lampstand, the table and the consecrated bread; this was called the Holy Place. Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place, which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. this ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron's staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant. Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now. When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing. this is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper. They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings--external regulations applying until the time of the new order."
A quick rundown of how things were setup and run with the old covenant.
Especially the Most Holy Place... The high priest could only go in once a year, and he couldn't go in without blood... Because we are not clean or holy enough to be in God's presence.
I love the bit near the end stating that the sacrifices and gifts weren't sufficient enough to clear the conscience. It was an external offering for external regulations to cover over the external... but it didn't deal with the heart/soul/spirit. So the new covenant covers that.
I know this wasn't much, but I think a good starting point for this next section of Hebrews.
It HAS been a long time - I've been waiting forever for an update, missy. No more hiatuses for you! ;)
