Jesus the Great High Priest (Heb 4:14)

This section starts off titled Jesus the Great High Priest.
I already see that silly word again (hint: starts with Th and ends with erefore). I still feel like it's such a run on thought - which is good I guess. We need to get to the good stuff from somewhere and it might take a lot of trails to get there. I just have a hard time focusing for this long :P So, because because because because becauuuuuuse! (sorry getting back on track)
"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess."(Heb 4:14)
"Therefore" For that reason. The most recent being vs 13 - God sees absolutely everything and he's to whom we must give account. And of course that we don't want to miss out on God's rest like the people in the desert did.
"Since we have a great high priest... Jesus the Son of God" This has been covered a bit already in Hebrews. Jesus became our high priest. The high priest's duty was to atone for the sins of the people. To act as mediator between man and God. And we have someone to do that for us. Not only is he a high priest, but he is great. our Great High Priest. and of course that's Jesus! He came and died and paid our sin in completion.
"who has gone through the heavens" He is at God's side. He is our connection to God. He went to heaven to be our mediator between us and God. He intercedes on our behalf.
"Let us hold firmly to the faith we profess" Since Jesus has done all this, is our great high priest, has gone to heaven, let's keep a firm grip on our faith that we claim. Let's not let him down. We shouldn't take it lightly and forget, but rather keep a good hold on it.

A nice verse to sum things we've gone over up/to prepare us for what's ahead. And I think a good place to pause for today. I'm guessing the rest will shoot out from here. I'm excited to get into it and learn, but foresee a lot of time to get through :P

I plan to go get a little more packing done. Closing on Friday assuming all goes well!

God is so good. I'm so thankful for the blessings he has given me.
So thankful that Jesus came so he could be our way to heaven and to God's presence. Without him there wouldn't be much hope. But he is our great high priest! Interceding for us. How awesome!
